The name Pictonio

The name Pictonio was originated in the antipode city of Aveiro (this is, the place on the opposite side of earth in a straight line from Aveiro), a beautiful village in New Zealand named Picton.

Picton was then the base of inspiration for the name Pictonio, symbolizing the shortening of distances between people and cultures, a characteristic that defines the international scope of the company.

History

Pictonio began its operations in January 2009, providing outsource services in software innovation and consultancy for medium and large corporations. Soon, its founders decided to invest in the development of innovative IT projects considering the combination of new technological trends applicable in niche markets and growing industries – a fairly recent concept named White Space Innovation.

From early 2010 Pictonio strongly invested in research and development (R&D) focusing on new projects that provide answers to specific needs with an open and sincere approach, and considering the integration of new solutions in an increasingly competitive market. In September 2010 it acquired FaceMBA, enlarging its products’ portfolio and its team. The new structure boosted the company’s growth in a more focused and consolidated strategy, oriented towards the clients.

In the first trimester of 2011 a new stage began in the life of the company with the spin-off of the product PokerSpeak to Spinning Data S.A. This is a company participated by foreign investors that acquired the product as well as the produced technology.

Pictonio also implements personalized software and IT solutions for specific projects and customers. In this area, the focus is on personalized attention towards the client, who is considered as an integrating component of the implementation process for the final solution, nurturing strong and long lasting relationships.
